michelle_rogers_300dpi_4x4cmI originally grew up in Washington State, USA, (Hansville) as a child, and then moved to Seattle for college at 18, where I completed my studies before doing extensive travel and time abroad in Central & South America, and then Europe. This was great fun as it allowed me a chance to really improve my Spanish and French, and to expand my mind and better understand multicultural perspectives.

I have worked as an biology science and environmental educator in various domains for over 10 years. I have worked with both children and adults, in formal and non-formal venues, online, face-to-face, and outdoor, and both domestically and internationally in three different countries.

At present I am an adjunct online science professor and education specialist. Topics I work in can include online biology, online environmental science, online environmental policies, 'man and the environment', environmental anthropology, environmental education related to sustainable development, ICT and technology for sustainability (ICT4d, ICT4ESD), and any related topic.

I also believe in giving back, and thus host networking events for others, as well as manage an annual charity event in Paris to raise money for non-profit groups that support sustainable development initiatives.

I am currently working on my doctorate of education (EdD) in instructional technology and distance education with Nova Southeastern University under the direction of Dr. Michael Simonson. I expect to complete all work for the EdD in 2010-11. I have been working at the crossroads of technology, culture, sustainability, and the environment for years, and this degree has added the capstone learning necessary to engage effectively in ICT4ESD.m_urbanarttour_350

I have traveled extensively over the years, and plan to keep doing so in the future. Extensive travel was always a dream of mine and now has given me a special position from which to have multicultural sensitivity for my students' needs. I have now traveled to Canada, Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, The Caribbean Islands, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, England, Corsica, Ireland, Kenya and Tanzania...along with Alaska, Hawaii, the west coast USA and many others states too. I love traveling, and I have learned there is no education like personal experience in other cultures.

I am also an avid photographer, and I like to dabble in the alternative photographic processes, such as Fuji (previously Polaroid) transfers and emulsion lifts, black-n-white, infrared, light graffiti, and any other fun process.
